Roadmap

Roadmap

A working index of expected development order. Dates, scope, and priority may change as systems are tested.

Phase 01 · Shipped 2026-06-19

Forge release

Terminal agent stabilized, installation path shipped, supported model endpoints documented. Forge 0.1.0 shipped publicly on 2026-06-19; the source lives at github.com/Vulkgryph/Forge, and the current version is 0.6.0 (see Phase 02). Details on the project page.

Phase 02 · Shipped 2026-08-28

Forge IDE

A standalone graphical IDE built on the same Rust agent core as the CLI, released together with a matching CLI update as Forge 0.3.0. macOS on Apple Silicon is the platform with a signed .dmg. Windows x64 and Linux x86-64 both run natively as of 0.5.2, installed by a script that builds from a checkout rather than by a packaged binary, each with its own document stating what is verified and what is not; both installers refuse ARM64, and Intel Macs are not a current target. The two surfaces run against the same agent and can be used independently.

Phase 03

Forge depth

Improve reliability, context handling, local-model setup, subscription auth, and documentation based on actual usage of the released CLI and IDE.

Phase 04

Bastion direction

Continue removing Rust from the x86-64 kernel in favour of the Vulkgryph (.vg) language, subsystem by subsystem, with each boundary qualified on real hardware before the superseded Rust is deleted. The active focus is the scheduler and interrupt handling. Remaining ahead of any self-hosting claim: native object staging across the whole kernel, the operator shells, C interoperability for ACPI, and the trust anchor. Progress is steady but slower than Forge, by design — this is long-horizon systems work with no release date.

Phase 05 · Not in focus

Sentinel beta

Define the initial Linux monitoring scope, build the rule engine, and test with external operators. Focus is being directed elsewhere (Forge and the Bastion OS) for now; Sentinel is not on the near-term work list. Development hardware is in place for when it returns to active work.
